Release of Marine Corps Order 6100.13A With Change Two

Marine Corps Order 6100.13A with Change Two has been released, implementing the plank as an alternative to the abdominal crunch for the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Marines may now choose to perform the plank, which uses an age and gender-neutral scoring table, and the order clarifies requirements for official PFT/CFT administration. This change applies to the entire Marine Corps Total Force.

Issued: January 14, 2020
1. Marine Corps Order (MCO) 6100.13A with change two has been released. The Order replaces MCO 6100.13A with change one, and specifically addresses implementation and details of the plank as an alternative event to the abdominal crunch for the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). There are no changes at this time to the Combat Fitness Test (CFT).
2. As with the hybrid pull-up/push-up event, Marines may elect to perform the plank instead of the abdominal crunch. The plank scoring table is age and gender neutral. The monitor to Marine ratio will be no more than seven Marines to one monitor for execution of the plank with the exception of recruit training and Officer Candidate School (OCS).
3. For recruit training and OCS, the Commanding Generals of the Marine Corps Recruit Depots and Training Command have the authority to determine the correct monitor to recruit/candidate ratio that most effectively ensures the integrity of the event given the number of recruits/candidates participating and the drill instructor staff available. This authority may be delegated to the Commanding Officers (CO) of the Recruit Training Regiments and OCS.
4. Language was also added to clarify the definition of an official PFT/CFT. An official PFT/CFT is a PFT/CFT monitored by a force fitness instructor or command physical training representative, that has been designated in writing by the CO and has completed the MarineNet certification course.
5. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
6. Release authorized by Major General William F. Mullen III, Commanding General, Training and Education Command.
