Interim Policy for GS-0083 Police Officers Required to Attend Basic Police Officer Course (BPOC)

This MARADMIN establishes that all newly hired GS-0083 Police Officers must attend the Basic Police Officer Course (BPOC) as mandatory entry-level training. The Police Commander's Course is no longer accepted as entry-level training for senior grades, though employees hired before this message are grandfathered in and exempt from the requirement.

1.  This message is to inform Provost Marshals, Police Chiefs, and Human Resource Officers (HROs) that all newly hired employees into the Police Officer position, GS-0083, will be required to attend the Basic Police Officer Course (BPOC).  
2.  Effective the date of this MARADMIN, the BPOC is the mandatory entry level training for all GS-0083-03 through GS-0083-13.  Waivers will be accepted in accordance Subsection 030103.C. of reference (a), with the exception of grade waivers.  The Police Commander's Course (PCC) is no longer accepted as entry level training for GS-0083-11 through GS-0083-13.  Employees hired prior to the date of this MARADMIN are considered grandfathered in and exempt from this BPOC requirement.
3.  Reference (a) is currently under revision and will incorporate this change.
4.  This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
