Noncompetitive Active-Duty Corporal to Sergeant Drill Instructor Promotions
This MARADMIN authorizes non-competitive promotions from Corporal to Sergeant for active-duty Drill Instructors serving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island or San Diego. Effective 1 March 2026, eligible corporals currently serving as Drill Instructors may be promoted, and future graduates of Drill Instructor School will be promoted effective the first day of the month after reporting to their assigned MCRD.

1. This MARADMIN announces the authority to non-competitively promote active-duty corporals serving on drill instructor duty at either Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (MCRD PI) or Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego (MCRD SD) to the rank of sergeant as follows:<br> 1.a. Effective 1 March 2026, all eligible corporals currently serving on drill instructor duty, who have not attained the rank of sergeant may be promoted non-competitively with a date of rank and effective date of 20260301.<br> 1.b. All eligible corporals who graduate from the Drill Instructor School are qualified for non-competitive promotion to sergeant with a date of rank effective the first day of the month after reporting to either MCRD PI or MCRD SD for assignment as a Drill Instructor.<br> 2. Marines must have 12 months time in grade and 36 months time in service.<br> 3. Per the references, Marines must meet all PME requirement for grade to be promoted to sergeant.<br> 4. In order to effect promotions, submit a roster endorsed by the applicable Commanding Officer, Recruit Training Regiment, using Naval correspondence to Enlisted Promotions Unit (MMPB-11) at SMB_MANPOWER_ENLISTED_PROMOTIONS@usmc.mil. Include on this roster:<br> Rank Name EDIPI MCC/Unit PME Complete<br> 5. Upon review and approval, unit diary entries will be entered by MMPB-11. Commanders are responsible for preparing certificates of appointment.<br> 6. Prior to delivery of the promotion warrant, Commanders must ensure the Marine is ready to assume the responsibilities and perform the duties of the grade in a creditable and satisfactory manner.<br> 7.
