2023 United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) Military Mentor Officer Selections
This MARADMIN announces the selection of four Marine Corps officers to serve as military mentors for the 2023 United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP), an annual educational program that provides 104 high school students interested in public service the opportunity to learn about government functions. The selected officers include one Assistant Senior Military Mentor (Lieutenant Colonel) and three Military Mentor Team members (Captains) from various Marine Corps installations.

1. The U.S. Senate Youth Program (USSYP) is an annual educational program sponsored by the U.S. Senate and funded by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation. This program provides 104 high school students, who are interested in pursuing public service careers, the opportunity to learn firsthand about the functions of government. Reference (a) solicited nominations for mentors in support of the 2023 USSYP. OATSD (PA) selected 17 officers from all the service branch submissions for participation in this year's program.<br> 2. The following officers were selected to represent the Marine Corps at this year's program:<br> A. Assistant Senior Military Mentor: Lieutenant Colonel Anja M. Loomis (Marine Forces Pacific, HI)<br> B. Military Mentor Team:<br> 1. Captain Genevieve A. Heaps (Marine Corps Information Operations Center, Quantico, VA)<br> 2. Captain Margaret A. Mello (Marine Corps Logistics Operations Group, Twentynine Palms, CA)<br> 3. Captain Patrick A. Sansbury (3d Battalion, 11th Marines, Twentynine Palms, CA)<br> 3. Attire requirements are as follows:<br> A. Symposium events: Service Alphas with Barracks Cover.<br> B. Formal dinner: Blue Dress Alphas without Sam Browne Belt. Evening Dress optional. Gloves and cover required.<br> 4. The officers who submitted an application for this program are applauded for their commitment to the education and mentorship of our Nation's youth.<br> 5.
