Announcement of the Department of Defense (DoD) System Administrator, Audit, Network, and Security (SANS) Service Cup December 2022 Competition Results.
This MARADMIN announces the results of the December 2022 DOD SANS Service Cup cyberspace competition held in Washington DC on 15-16 December 2022. The USMC fielded both active and reserve component teams, with the reserve team placing third overall and the active team placing fourth overall out of 10 competing teams, with both teams taking second place within their respective component categories.

1. Purpose. This message announces the competition results of the December 2022 SANS Service Cup. On 15 and 16 December 2022, the training lead SANS hosted the annual premier cyberspace competition event, the DOD Services Cup, in Washington DC. Each service had the opportunity to submit an active component and a reserve component team.<br> 2. Background. The winner of the 2022 Fall USMC Cyber Games was sponsored by Deputy Commandant for Information to represent the United States Marine Corps (USMC) active component; the USMC reserves also assembled a team. Overall, the two USMC teams came in third and fourth out of 10 competing teams after two days of competition. Each team took second within their component categories. The National Guard team took first place while the Navy (active) team was second, the USMC (reserve) team was third, and the USMC (active) team was fourth. In addition to experience and cross-service engagement, gaps in knowledge and experience were identified to enhance training & readiness standards and develop/improve tactics, techniques, and procedures. <br> 3.
