Congressional Fellowship Program Civilian Participant Solicitation
This MARADMIN solicits nominations from civilian Marines for the Congressional Fellowship Program, a highly competitive 10-12 month developmental opportunity for GS-13 through GS-15 level personnel. The program provides hands-on experience working on the staff of a Congressional member, committee, or support organization to develop knowledge of legislative operations. Application packages are due by close of business on April 6, 2007.

1. IAW REF A, THE CIVILIAN WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SECTION (MPC-30) IS SOLICITING CIVILIAN MARINE NOMINATIONS FOR THE CONGRESSIONAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM. THE PROGRAM IS HIGHLY COMPETITIVE AND THESE CANDIDATES WILL BE ADVOCATES FOR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARTICIPATING IN ANY ASPECT OF THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS. THE DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE INTENSIVE BRIEFINGS ON THE OPERATIONS AND ORGANIZATION OF THE CONGRESS AND FREQUENT SEMINARS ON CAPITOL HILL. NOMINEE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE A MINIMUM GRADE LEVEL OF GS/GM-13 OR EQUIVALENT, A BACHELOR'S DEGREE, AT LEAST TWO YEARS OF FEDERAL SERVICE IN THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH, CAPABILITY OF WORKING ON COMPLEX ISSUES WITH SHORT DEADLINES, ABILITY TO WORK IN AN UNSTRUCTURED ENVIRONMENT, DEMONSTRATED FLEXIBILITY IN WORK HABITS, AND THE ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY WITH MINIMAL SUPERVISION.
