Solicitation of Nominees to Serve as Drum Major, United States Marine Band, Marine Barracks Washington

This MARADMIN announces the opportunity to serve as Drum Major for the United States Marine Band at Marine Barracks Washington. Eligible applicants must be Gunnery Sergeants or above with specific music-related PMOSs (5511, 5512, 5519, or 5521) and must submit a comprehensive application package including essays, videos, and recommendations by March 22, 2024.

1.  This message announces the opportunity to serve as the Drum Major, U.S. Marine Band, Marine Barracks Washington.<br>
2.  Applicant requirements:<br>
2.a.  Possess PMOS 5511, 5512, 5519, or 5521.<br>
2.b.  Be a Gunnery Sergeant or above.<br>
2.c.  Be a graduate of the Music Unit Leader course (CID N0355L2) upon execution of orders to MCC W44 (PMOS 5519 and 5521 only).<br>
3.  Applicant package requirements:<br>
3.a.  Copy of BIR.<br>
3.b.  Copy of BTR.<br>
3.c.  Current resume.<br>
3.d.  Letter of recommendation from a Band Officer (PMOS 5502, 5505, 5506, 5507) or senior enlisted acting as a Band Officer.<br>
3.e.  Essay explaining qualifications as Drum Major, their vision for leadership, and how to effectively develop our membership both ceremonially and as leaders.  Minimum 1,250 words, double spaced at 12-pt font.<br>
3.f.  Video of applicant drum majoring a band in a Sound Off and a Pass in Review.  Video does not need to be from actual ceremonies, may be from a rehearsal.<br>
3.g.  Video of applicant conducting (from podium) the National Anthem and one march of their choosing.<br>
4.  Packages will be submitted to Drum Major, U.S. Marine Band, at duane.king@usmc.mil no later than 2359 EST 22 March 2024.  Applicants are to use DoD SAFE to upload recordings.  https:(slash)(slash)safe.apps.mil/<br>
5.  Selected finalists will be brought to Marine Barracks Washington via U.S. Marine Band-funded TAD orders for the in-person audition from 7-10 May 2024.<br>
