Marine Officer Applications Being Accepted by Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (Blue Angels) for CY 2021-2023 Show Seasons
The Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (Blue Angels) is accepting applications from Marine Corps officers for the 2021-2023 show seasons, including positions for F/A-18 and C-130 demonstration pilots, an Events Coordinator, and an Executive Officer. Applications must be submitted by 30 April 2020, with final selections to be made in July 2020.

1. The United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (NFDS) (Blue Angels) may select one Marine Corps F/A-18 demonstration pilot and one Marine Corps C-130 demonstration pilot for the 2021-2023 show seasons, one Events Coordinator and one Executive Officer (XO) for the 2021-2022 show seasons. Interested officers should submit applications per ref a no later than 30 April 2020. Final selections will be made in July 2020.<br> 2. Qualifications. Applicants should be career-oriented, career designated commissioned officers on active duty or active reserve in the grade of first lieutenant through major with the following specific qualifications:<br> 2.a. F/A-18 demonstration pilot applicants must be carrier qualified in a tactical jet with 1,250 hours of jet flight time by 30 September 2020.<br> 2.b. Marine C-130 demonstration pilot applicants must have 1,200 hours of flight time by 30 September 2020 and hold a Transport Plane Commander rating in the C-130J model aircraft.<br> 2.c. Events Coordinator applicants must be a Naval Flight Officer and must have completed an operational fleet tour.<br> 2.d. XO applicants must be a Naval Aviator or Naval Flight Officer at the O-5 paygrade.<br> 2.e. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 2 years time on station by 1 September 2020 or within 12 months of PCS or PCA orders. Additionally, applicants currently assigned to III MEF or OCONUS must meet time on station requirements per MCO 1300.8 prior to 1 September 2020.<br> 3. All Marine applicants shall be approved for eligibility by MMOA prior to selection by the NFDS. Applicants must contact their monitor to determine eligibility prior to beginning the application process.<br> 4. Command endorsements for pilot applicants should specifically address the flying abilities and aviation leadership qualities of the applicant. In the event an officer submits an application and is subsequently transferred, endorsements from the gaining command should also be forwarded. Applications received after the 30 April 2020 deadline will normally not be considered.
