Lateral Move to Special Operations Officer (0370)
This MARADMIN announces a significant change to the active service obligation for officers who lateral move to Special Operations Officer (PMOS 0370), increasing the requirement from 36 months to 60 months from the date the PMOS is awarded. The change reflects the unique training and nature of the special operations community and takes effect beginning with Individual Training Course (ITC) 24-2.

1. This message announces the new active service obligation for lateral moves to Special Operations Officer (SOO), Primary Military Occupational Specialty (PMOS) 0370. Due to the unique training and nature of the special operations community, all officers who are awarded the 0370 PMOS will incur a 60-month active service obligation from the date PMOS 0370 is awarded per DC M&RA decision. This is a change from the previous 36-month obligation for a voluntary lateral moves to PMOS 0370. 2. In order to lateral move to PMOS 0370, all officers must be screened by MARFORSOC Recruiting and Advertising (R&A) and complete Assessment and Selection (A&S). Upon completion of A&S the officer must be selected to attend MARFORSOC's Individual Training Course (ITC). Upon successful completion of ITC, officers are awarded the 0370 PMOS. 3. Upon selection at A&S, and prior to the start of ITC, officers will be required to sign a Page 11 provided by MARFORSOC agreeing to incur a 60-month active service obligation to take effect upon the awarding of PMOS 0370. 3.a. Officers who are selected at A&S but do not complete ITC will incur a 24-month active service obligation. 3.b. This change will take effect beginning with ITC 24-2. 3.c. In the rare instance a lateral move to PMOS 0370 is granted without ITC completion, the officer will still sign a Page 11 and incur a 60-month service obligation; exceptions shall be granted by the Commander, MARFORSOC. 3.d. MMOA-3 will enter the appropriate restricted transaction type code on unit diary upon the awarding of the PMOS 0370 to change officers' incurred obligation of service date. 4.
