Interim Guidance for Retirement and Resignation Requests
This MARADMIN establishes new interim guidance for submitting retirement and resignation requests across the Total Force. Effective immediately, all requests must be submitted between 18 months and 6 months prior to the desired retirement or resignation date to improve predictability for talent management and assignment planning.

1. Purpose. One of the elements of Talent Management is predictability, and to facilitate it for assignments and related actions. This message establishes interim guidance regarding the processing of retirement and resignation requests for the total force. 2. Effective immediately, requests for retirement or resignation will be submitted not more than 18 months and not less than six months prior to the requested retirement or resignation date. 3. The Director, Manpower Management, may approve a resignation/retirement request for a date other than the date requested based on the needs of the service, service limitations, or the laws and policies related to retirements/resignations. 4. This and other changes to reference (a) will be published in CY2024. 5. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Total Force. 6. Release authorized by Lieutenant General James F.
