Authorized Individual Weapons, Optics, Modular Attachments and Modifications for Annual Rifle and Pistol Training for FY 2017
This MARADMIN provides annual guidance for FY 2017 on authorized weapons, optics, modular attachments, and modifications for Annual Rifle Training (ART) and Annual Pistol Training (APT). It specifies approved pistols (M9, M9A1, M45A1, Glock-19), rifles (M16A4, M4, M4A1, M27 IAR), associated optics, attachments, and authorized modifications to ensure Marines train with properly configured equipment as fielded on their unit Table of Equipment.

1. Purpose. In accordance with the references, this MARADMIN provides annual guidance on the Weapons, Optics, and Modular Attachments required [as fielded and reflected on unit table of equipment (T/E)] during annual rifle training (ART), annual pistol training (APT), and authorized modifications to the service rifle and pistol for the fiscal year indicated.<br> 2. This MARADMIN supersedes and cancels ref (d). <br> 3. In accordance with ref (e), as approved by DC CDI, the following weapons, optics, modular attachments and modifications are authorized for use in the conduct of ART and APT. <br> 4. The 3-point combat sling is authorized but will be removed from Stock List 3 (SL3) and replaced by attrition.<br> Note 3: This BUIS is intended as primary model. Other BUIS are authorized until they are no longer serviceable, then they shall be replaced with the item listed above.<br> Note 4: The visible light illuminator (VLI) (AN/PVS 29) is the white light for the M16A4 and M4 rifles. Units are encouraged to purchase and install kits as needed but must retain fixed buttstocks.<br> 12. In keeping with the "train as you fight" ethos, it is imperative that Marines know how to properly and effectively arrange and mount modular attachments. Improper mounting can lead to equipment loss. Improper arrangement can lead to a device interfering with another. Proper Pre Combat Checks/Pre Combat Inspections during training will ensure this does not become a combat liability.<br> 13. The recently procured Glock 19 listed in paragraph 4 is authorized for units with this pistol on their Table of Equipment, and assigned for distribution under the Marine Corps fielding plan. Command approved concealed holsters are authorized for this item. <br> 14. The grip pod, NSN: 1005015411772 for the service rifle/carbine and the bipod, P/N: IWNS-911/3A703 for the M27 IAR, are authorized to be attached to the weapon but the legs of the grip pod or bipod will not be used to support the weapon while firing Marine Corps Combat Marksmanship Program, Table 1/1A.<br> 15. Both 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines, and 3d Battalion, 5th Marines, are authorized to conduct ART and APT with experimental weapons and attachments, as directed, in support of the Marine Corps Warfighting Labs Sea Dragon study for Marine Corps Force 2025 table of organization, T/E, concepts and design.<br> 16. Weapons Training Battalion Quantico, marksmanship program management section will release this message annually in order to update the authorized weapons, optics and modular attachments required for annual rifle and pistol training.<br> 17.
