2016 Marine and Family National Research Survey Schedule

This MARADMIN announces the 2016 Marine and Family Programs research survey schedule, which includes a Marine and Family Needs Assessment and quarterly Service Quality (SERVQUAL) assessments. Active duty Marines and their spouses will receive email invitations to participate in surveys evaluating specific MF programs throughout the year, with findings used to adjust programming and direct resources to better support Marines and families.

Issued: April 18, 2016
1. Per the references, the Marine and Family Programs (MF) Division, Manpower and Reserve Affairs, is required to conduct two studies in 2016: 1) the MF Needs Assessment and 2) the Service Quality assessment (SERVQUAL). The MF Needs Assessment examines: a) the types of services needed/who needs them, b) the level at which there is a need (e.g., local, regional, etc.), and c) how service members and their families are accessing the service or program. SERVQUAL measures MF program deficiencies by measuring the gap between program user's expectations and perceptions of various program attributes. Findings from these studies will be utilized to adjust programming and accurately direct resources to best support Marines and their families.
2. The MF Needs Assessment will be conducted during first quarter 2016 and every three years thereafter. The SERVQUAL assessments will occur quarterly, with four programs being assessed each year (one per quarter). The following programs are scheduled for SERVQUAL evaluation in 2016:
2A. First Quarter (High Intensity Tactical Training (HITT))
2B. Second Quarter (Fitness Centers)
2C. Third Quarter (New Parent Support Program)
2D. Fourth Quarter (School Liaison Program)
3. Email invitations containing a survey link will be issued to the active Marine component during each scheduled survey month, but only those utilizing the program under review will be asked to complete the survey. Family Readiness Officers will place the survey link on eMarine for spouse access and participation when applicable.
4. Survey findings will be published on Marine and Family Gear Locker (www.thegearlocker.org).
5. This MARADMIN is applicable to the active Marine component and their spouses.
6. Release authorized by MajGen B. W. Whitman, Director, Marine and Family Programs Division.
