Calendar Year 2018 Marine Corps Intelligence and National Military Intelligence Foundation Awards Selection Announcement

This MARADMIN announces the selectees for the Calendar Year 2018 Marine Corps Intelligence Awards Program (MCIAP) and National Military Intelligence Foundation (NMIF) Marine Corps Awards. The awards recognize outstanding intelligence Marines, civilians, and units across active duty and reserve components for excellence in intelligence operations, innovation, and dedication to mission accomplishment.

1. Congratulations to all the nominees for the CY 2018 Marine Corps Intelligence Awards Program (MCIAP) and the National Military Intelligence Foundation (NMIF) Marine Corps Awards.<br>
2. The MCIAP recognizes intelligence Marines, civilians, and units that best exemplify excellence in intelligence, innovation, and dedication to mission accomplishment within the operating forces, Supporting Establishment, and Marine Corps Reserve. The superior quality of the nominees made selection exceptionally challenging and reflects the outstanding performance of our intelligence professionals within the Marine Corps Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Enterprise.<br>
3. I am pleased to announce the following MCIAP selectees:<br>
3a. The LtCol Michael D. Kuszewski Marine Corps Intelligence Officer of the Year Award: Capt Thomas R. Ekstrom USMC, FMV PED OIC, Marine Corps Intelligence Activity.<br>
3b. The MGySgt Samuel C. Plott Marine Corps Intelligence Staff Noncommissioned Officer of the Year Award: MSgt Steven A. Zales USMC, S-2 Chief, 13th MEU.<br>
3c. The MSgt Charles C. Arndt Marine Corps Intelligence Noncommissioned Officer of the Year Award: Sgt Felicity J. Dornellasnader USMC, Cryptologic Cyberspace Analyst, MARFORCYBER.<br>
3d. The LCpl James E. Swain Marine Corps Intelligence Enlisted Marine of the Year Award: PFC Jason N. Hanna USMC, Intelligence Specialist, 3rd Bn 4th Mar.<br>
3e. The Mr. John J. Guenther Marine Corps Intelligence Civilian of the Year Award: Mr. Timothy Mathews, Information Technology and Signals Intelligence Supervisor, MARFORPAC.<br>
3f. The Director of Intelligence Innovation Award: 4th Marines S-2.<br>
3g. The Director of Intelligence Unit of the Year Award (DIRINT'S Cup): 700 Combat Mission Team, MARFORCYBER.<br>
4.  The MCIAP selectees will be honored at a dinner on 26 September 2019 in Arlington, VA.<br>
5. The NMIF Colonel Donald G. Cook USMC Award and Colonel James L. Jones USMCR Award recognize professional excellence and exceptional dedication to duty for an active duty Marine or government civilian and a Marine Corps Reserve intelligence professional, respectively.<br>
6. I am pleased to announce the following 2018 NMIF Marine Corps selectees:<br>
6a. The Col Cook USMC Award: Mr. Paul Contreas M2X Counterintelligence Coordinating Authority, Marine Corps Intelligence Activity.  6b. The Col Jones USMCR Award: Sgt Nicholas C. Reithmaier USMCR, Senior Analyst and Training NCO, Intelligence Support Battalion.<br>
7. The Marine Corps NMIF selectees will be honored at a dinner on 19 May 2019 in Tysons Corner, VA.<br>
