Accreditation of Entry-Level Training for Marine Corps Military Police and Civilian Police Officers

This MARADMIN announces the requirement for entry-level training for Marine Corps Military Police (MOS 5811 and 5803) and civilian police officers to be accredited by both the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation Association (FLETA) and the DoD Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission. This accreditation is necessary to grant expanded law enforcement authorities over civilians on DoD installations under 10 U.S.C. §2672.

1.  This MARADMIN announces the requirement for entry-level training for Marines assigned the Military Occupational Skill of 5811 or 5803 to be certified per the standards prescribed in references (a) and (b).  Entry-level training for these populations shall be accredited by both the Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation Association (FLETA) and the DoD POST Commission.<br>
2.  The Attorney General authorized the implementation of 10 U.S.C. §2672 authorities for DoD law enforcement personnel, both military and civilian employees, per reference (c).  This statue expands law enforcement authorities for DoD law enforcement personnel over civilians suspected of committing a violation or a crime while aboard a DoD installation, in addition to enforcement of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and other applicable federal policies, regulations, and statutes.  A prerequisite for the Service to be granted such authorities is for all entry-level training of DoD law enforcement personnel to be certified by FLETA and DoD POST standards in entry-level training.  The DoD is actively pursuing implementation of 10 U.S.C. §2672 authorities for all Services.<br>
3.  Accreditation of the Marine Corps Military Police School is currently in progress and shall be completed without interruption.<br>
4.  The Marine Corps Police Academy shall continue to maintain FLETA and DoD POST accreditation per established timelines in applicable references.<br>
5.  This MARADMIN is effective the date published, and shall cancel upon incorporation of the a forementioned requirements into references(d) and (e).<br>
