2022 Juneteenth Day of Observance
This MARADMIN announces the observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day on June 19, 2022, as established by Public Law 117-17. The message calls upon Marines to acknowledge and celebrate the end of the Civil War and emancipation of former slaves, while committing to eradicate systemic racism and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Marine Corps.

1. Public Law 117-17 establishes 19 June as Juneteenth National Independence Day as a public holiday. 2. On 18 June 2021, President Biden signed the Juneteenth Day of Observance proclamation calling upon the people of the United States, "to acknowledge and celebrate the end of the Civil War and emancipation of former slaves, and to commit together to eradicate systemic racism that still undermines our founding ideals and collective prosperity." 3. As we commemorate Juneteenth, the Marine Corps will continue to become a more lethal force by building strength through diversity, equity, and inclusion, while remaining dedicated to promoting a professional environment free from personal, social, and institutional bias and discrimination. 4.
