Availability of MCWP 4-12, Operational Level Logistics
This MARADMIN announces the publication and availability of Marine Corps Warfighting Publication (MCWP) 4-12, Operational Level Logistics, dated June 2, 2016. The publication is available for electronic download via the USMC doctrine website and provides fundamental principles for commanders, staffs, and logisticians to understand operational-level logistics within joint and combined military operations. This message applies to the Marine Corps Total Force.

1. The Deputy Commandant, Combat Development and Integration, has published Marine Corps Warfighting Publication (MCWP) 4-12, Operational Level Logistics (semi-colon) dated 02 Jun 2016. 2. Background.<br>
(a) MCWP 4-12, Operational Level Logistics, is a revised warfighting publication that will update operational level logistics in the Marine Corps. Operational-level logistics addresses sustainment within a military theater of operations. Operational-level logistics is the integrating link that connects strategic-level logistic resources to satisfy tactical-level logistic requirements beyond the MAGTF capability and/or capacity. Operational-level logistics involves those support activities required to sustain campaigns and major operations.<br>
(b) This warfighting publication provides the fundamental principles needed by commanders, staffs, and logisticians within the Marine Corps operating forces (MARFOR), military services, theater logistics agencies, coalition partners, DoD, and other strategic-level logistics organizations, agencies and support providers to understand the organization, planning, execution, and coordination of operational-level logistics to sustain the Marine Corps Component within a joint and/or combined military theater of operations.<br>
3. Coordinating Instructions. Reference (a) details steps required to request publication hard copies, however, this publication will be disseminated via electronic distribution only unless commanders submit compelling needs justification for printed copies. Units requiring print allocations must follow procedures identified in reference (a), paragraph 4a(2). For MCPDS identification purposes, the publication control number is 143 000099 00.<br>
