Secondary Dependency Application DD Form 137 Update
This MARADMIN announces the mandatory use of the new Secondary Dependency Application DD Form 137 for all secondary dependency claims, effective 1 August 2024. Starting 1 July 2025, four obsolete dependency forms (DD Forms 137-3, 137-5, 137-6, and 137-7) will no longer be accepted by Headquarters Marine Corps DEERS and Dependency Support Section.

1. Purpose. This MARADMIN outlines new guidance, in accordance with references (a) and (b), for Active Duty, Reserve, and Retired Marines claiming secondary dependents for Basic Allowance for Housing entitlements and travel and transportation allowances. 2. Background. Per the references, effective 1 August 2024, all secondary dependency claims are required to be submitted using the Secondary Dependency Application DD Form 137. Starting 1 July 2025 Headquarters Marine Corps, DEERS and Dependency Support Section (MFP-1) will no longer accept the following obsolete forms: Dependency Statement-Parent (DD Form 137-3), Dependency Statement-Incapacitated Child Over 21(DD Form 137-5), Dependency Statement-Full-Time Student (DD Form 137-6) and Dependency Statement–Ward of a Court (DD Form 137-7). 3. All Secondary Dependency Application criteria, guidelines, policies, and procedures can be obtained in reference (b) and on the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense(Comptroller)/CFO website at: https://comptroller.defense.gov/FMR and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service website at: https:// www.dfas.mil/MilitaryMembers/SecondaryDependency/SDC/. 4. This MARADMIN applies to the Active Component, members of the Selected Reserve, Marines on Active-Duty Operational Support Orders, their family members and when authorized by law, other populations such as civilian personnel. 5.
