Call for Participation in the 2024 National Montford Point Marine Association Convention

This MARADMIN announces the 2024 National Montford Point Marine Association (NMPMA) Convention, to be held August 22-24, 2024, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The Marine Corps will sponsor registration fees and travel expenses for 21 participants to attend this event honoring the legacy of the Montford Point Marines who broke racial barriers in the Corps. Interested personnel must submit sponsorship applications with command endorsement by August 7, 2024.

1.  The National Montford Point Marine Association
(NMPMA), Incorporated Convention will be held from 22-24 August 2024
at the Marston Pavilion, 730 Seth Williams Boulevard, Camp Lejeune,
North Carolina.
2.  The mission of the NMPMA is "to promote and preserve the strong
bonds of friendship born from shared adversities and to devote
ourselves to the furtherance of these accomplishments to ensure more
peaceful times."  NMPMA is a non-federal entity wholly independent
of the Marine Corps.  More information can be found on their website

3.  During the NMPMA Convention, attendees will benefit from
conversations and workshops from military leaders, veterans, and
civilian leaders to honor the legacy of the Montford Point Marines.
The NMPMA Convention honors the legacy of the Montford Point
Marines, who broke barriers and paved the way for a more equitable
and inclusive Marine Corps.
4.  Headquarters, United States Marine Corps, Manpower Plans and
Policy Division (MP) will sponsor 21 conference registration fees
and travel expenses for this event.  MP will fund travel for five
days with the authorized travel days being 21 August and 25 August
2024.  Lodging reimbursement is limited to the government rate with
travelers utilizing the integrated lodging program as applicable.
Commands may authorize rental cars using unit funds.
5.  Participants require command endorsement before applying for
sponsored attendance and being approved by MP for funding.
The command endorsement must be submitted with the sponsorship
application. The sponsorship application and command endorsement

sponsorship application will receive an email from MPE with
coordinating instructions.  Sponsorship applications must be
completed no later than 7 August 2024.  Attendees must have a
non-delinquent government travel charge card in their possession and
a DTS profile joined to their respective unit.
6.  Reserve Marines within the selected reserve will require
approval from the first O-5 commander in their chain of command to
be considered for participation approval.  Reserve commands are
required to attach their Marines to their unit while attending the
convention and issue Marine Reserve Order Writing System orders
using drills or annual training.  MP will fund their registration
and all travel expenses during the traveling period of the
convention.
7.  Uniform of the day for this event is Service "C" for Marines,
Service Khakis for Sailors, and business casual for Civilian
Marines.  The uniform for the awards banquet is Evening Dress "B",
Blue Dress "A", or Service "A" for Marines, Service Dress White for
Sailors, and business professional for Civilian Marines.
8.  This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force.
