Call for Participation in the 2024 Blacks in Government National Training Institute Conference
This MARADMIN announces the 2024 Blacks in Government (BIG) National Training Institute Conference, scheduled for August 12-15, 2024, in Tampa, Florida. Headquarters Marine Corps will sponsor 11 participants by covering conference registration fees and travel expenses. Command endorsement and sponsorship applications are required by August 1, 2024.

1. The Blacks in Government (BIG) National Training Institute (NTI) Conference will be held from 12–15 August 2024 at the Tampa Convention Center, 141 East Brorein Street, Tampa, Florida. 2. BIG NTI is a nationwide response to train and develop individuals into subject matter experts so they can perform the critical tasks of providing services to the general public. Areas of training include technology, health care, science, equal employment opportunity, acquisition, financial management, inclusive of programs and benefits, project management, retirement planning, homeland security, and many other service-based functions necessary for the general welfare of the citizenry. BIG NTI is a non-federal entity wholly independent of the Marine Corps. More information can be found on their website at www.bignet.org. 3. During the conference, attendees will benefit from candid and insightful discussions with public service leaders and amongst themselves. Additionally, this event offers mutually beneficial educational opportunities that provide participants and the Service with a greater understanding of how to work with and capitalize on the differences and strengths within our Corps. 4. Headquarters, United States Marine Corps, Manpower Plans and Policy Division (MP) will sponsor 11 conference registration fees and travel expenses for this event. MP will fund travel for six days with the authorized travel days being 11 August and 16 August 2024. Lodging reimbursement is limited to the government rate with travelers utilizing the integrated lodging program as applicable. Commands may authorize rental cars using unit funds. 5. Participants require command endorsement before applying for sponsored attendance and being approved by MP for funding. The command endorsement must be submitted with the sponsorship application. Individuals who submit a sponsorship application will receive an email from MPE with coordinating instructions. Sponsorship applications must be completed no later than 1 August 2024. Attendees must have a non-delinquent government travel charge card in their possession and a DTS profile joined to their respective unit. 6. Reserve Marines within the selected reserve require approval from the first O-5 commander in their chain of command to be considered for participation. Reserve commands are required to attach their Marines to their unit while attending the conference using command funding. MP will fund their registration and all travel expenses during the traveling period of the conference. 7. Uniform of the day for this event is Service "C" for Marines, Service Khakis for Sailors, and business casual for Civilian Marines. 8. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Marine Corps Total Force. 9.
