June 2017 Updates to Defense Readiness Reporting System-Marine Corps

1.  This MARADMIN summarizes recent updates to Defense Readiness Reporting System-Marine Corps (DRRS-MC).  DRRS-MC and its capabilities will continue to evolve in order to support complete, accurate, and timely readiness reporting.<br>
2.  DRRS-MC was updated on 29 June 2017 to include the following:<br>
3.  Structured guidance provided for all comments.<br>
3.A.  The system now provides guidance and a short list of examples above the comment sections for P, S, R, and T ratings and commanders comments.<br>
3.B.  Action by reporting units:  follow the guidance provided when submitting comments.<br>
4.  Copy function on mission and METs assessment.<br>
4.A.  The system now allows users to copy resourced, trained, observed, YQN, forecast, task remarks, and the standard type  details from core to assigned missions.  On the mission and METs performance measure assessment page, a copy assessment icon was added next to task remarks.  This feature allows users to quickly copy the details from Marine Corps Tasks (MCTs) contained on a core mission to identical MCTs on assigned missions.<br>
4.B.  Action by reporting units:  use the copy assessment feature to ease the burden of reporting upon receiving an assigned mission.  This feature only works for identical MCTs and can only be used once  for each MCT. Users are advised to complete their assessment before using the copy feature, as they will not be able to go back and re-copy updated work.<br>
5.  Mandatory YQN assessment remarks.<br>
5.A.  The system was updated to require users to submit comments for all missions assessed as Y, Q, or N.  A unit's report will not validate for submission until a comment is entered on Y, Q, and N remarks.<br>
5.B.  Action by reporting units:  units must submit a comment on all Y, Q, and N remarks.<br>
6.  Increased comment size.<br>
6.A.  Comment size in DRRS-MC was doubled from 2,000 to 4,000 characters for each comment.  This allows commanders to paint a more complete readiness picture by expanding available characters.<br>
6.B.  Action by reporting units:  clearly and concisely articulate readiness challenges in the comments provided on readiness reports.  There is no expectation that each comment needs to include 4,000 characters.  The Readiness Branch continues to work to eliminate redundant inputs and reduce the overall number of required comments.<br>
7.  Way Ahead.  June updates to DRRS-MC are part of a larger, enduring effort to improve the reliability and utility of USMC readiness information.  Policy changes will be incorporated in an updated version of ref b, which is expected for release in early July 2017.  PPO POR, MARFOR, and MEF readiness sections are ready to provide additional support.  Units and commanders are encouraged to submit additional recommendations to strengthen service policy and improve the accuracy and reliability of readiness reporting.<br>
