Marine Corps Contracting Course and Marine Corps Contracting Course Pilot Offering

This MARADMIN announces the development of a new Marine Corps Contracting Course curriculum in partnership with Defense Acquisition University (DAU) and Marine Corps Combat Service Support Schools (MCCSSS), which will meet DAWIA Level 1 and Level 2 training requirements for contracting officers (MOS 9656) and enlisted contract specialists (MOS 3044). A pilot course is being offered from October 2006 through February 2007 at Camp Johnson, NC, with priority given to II MEF and MCI East personnel, and the full course will begin in July 2008.

1. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH DEFENSE ACQUISITION
UNIVERSITY (DAU) AND MARINE CORPS COMBAT SERVICE SUPPORT SCHOOLS
(MCCSSS), HQMC, I&L, CONTRACTS DIVISION HAS DEVELOPED A MARINE CORPS
CONTRACTING CURRICULUM. THE COURSE WILL BE LOCATED AT CAMP JOHNSON,
NC. THE CURRICULUM WILL MEET ALL DEFENSE ACQUISITION WORKFORCE
IMPROVEMENT ACT (DAWIA) REQUIREMENTS FOR LEVEL 1 AND LEVEL 2
TRAINING IN CONTRACTING. THIS CURRICULUM IS REPLACING THE CURRENT
METHOD OF TRAINING OFFERED TO MARINE OFFICERS (9656'S) AND MARINE
ENLISTED CONTRACT SPECIALIST (3044'S). THE FIRST OFFERING OF THE
MARINE CONTRACTING COURSE WILL BE JULY 2008, FURTHER GUIDANCE ON
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND APPLYING FOR THE COURSE WILL BE
FORTHCOMING. 
2. IN THE INTERIM TO MEET A GROWING NEED FOR TRAINING MARINE
CONTRACTING OFFICERS AND MARINE ENLISTED CONTRACT SPECIALIST A PILOT
COURSE OF THIS NEW CURRICULUM IS BEING OFFERED OCTOBER 2006 THROUGH

C. CIVILIAN MARINE GS-1102'S AND GS-1105'S
D. ANY OTHER ACTIVE DUTY MARINE CORPS OR DOD PERSONNEL
4. ATTENDANCE: PERSONNEL WILL BE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
PILOT COURSE BASED UPON THE LISTED PRIORITY IN SECTION 3 AND ON A
FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS. EACH COURSE HAS A MAXIMUM CAPACITY OF
24 PARTICIPANTS. PERSONNEL INTERESTED IN ATTENDING ANY OR ALL
COURSES PROVIDED IN THE PILOT NEED TO CONTACT MAJOR SEAN D. HAYES

5. FUNDING: THE FUNDING TO ATTEND A COURSE OFFERED THROUGH THE
PILOT IS AT NO COST TO THE PARENT COMMANDS. ALL PERSONNEL
ATTENDING A COURSE WILL BE NOTIFIED VIA EMAIL WITH THE APPROPRIATE
FUNDING AND ORDERS INFORMATION.
6. BILLETING: PERSONNEL ATTENDING COURSES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
ARRANGING THEIR OWN BILLETING. 
A. OFFICERS, SNCOS, AND CIVILIANS NEED TO CONTACT THE CAMP JOHNSON
BOQ FOR BILLETING RESERVATIONS. RESERVATIONS CAN BE MADE UP TO 30
DAYS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL AND MUST BE MADE WITH A CREDIT CARD.
