Derivative Classification Training Requirement
This MARADMIN implements a new annual training requirement for derivative classification, effective October 1, 2019. All DoD personnel, including contractors, who access classified systems or perform derivative classification functions must complete this training annually through the CDSE STEPP portal, changing from the previous biennial requirement.

1. All DoD personnel, including contractors, who access classified systems and networks or perform derivative classification functions are required to complete derivative classification training annually. Currently this training is a biennial requirement in accordance with references B, C and D. 2. Accordingly, the Secretary of Defense has implemented an effective date for what is now an annual derivative classification security training requirement, effective as of October 1, 2019. 3. All commands in the Marine Corps will complete this training on, The Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) via Security Training, Education and Professionalization Portal (STEPP) http:(slash)(slash)cdse.edu/stepp/index.html. 4.
