Call for Participation in the 2018 National Naval Officers' Association Professional Development and Training Symposium

This MARADMIN announces the 2018 National Naval Officers' Association (NNOA) Professional Development and Training Symposium, scheduled for 8-9 August 2018 in Portsmouth, Virginia. The symposium focuses on enhancing Sea Service operational readiness through diversity and professional development, with the theme "Embracing Diversity to Strengthen the Sea Services." Limited sponsorship for conference fees and travel expenses is available on a first-come, first-served basis for eligible Marines, civilian Marines, and Sailors attached to Marine units.

1. This MARADMIN announces the 2018 National Naval Officers Association (NNOA) Professional Development and Training Symposium from 8-9 August 2018 at the Renaissance Portsmouth-Norfolk Waterfront Hotel, located at 425 Water St, Portsmouth, VA 23704.
2.  NNOA's mission is to enhance Sea Service operational readiness by supporting recruiting, professional development, and retention in an effort to achieve a diverse officer corps that reflects the demographics of our Nation. This year's theme is, "Embracing Diversity to Strengthen the Sea Services."
3.  Subject to conference approval, CMC (MPE) will sponsor a limited number of conference/registration fees and all travel expenses.  Commanders may authorize Temporary Additional Duty for Marines, civilian Marines and Sailors who are attached to Marine units to attend.  Local travel is authorized for members in the local area.  All Marine Corps funded participation will be coordinated through the HQMC M&RA Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management (MPE) Branch.  Reservations will be given on a first-come first-served basis. Rental cars are not authorized.
