FY22 Colonel Command Screening Board Results

This MARADMIN announces the results of the FY22 Colonel Command Screening Board, which convened on 13 July 2021 to screen 150 colonels for assignment to 54 operating and supporting establishment commands. The board selected 55 officers as primary selectees and 29 officers as alternates for command billets that will become available between 1 June 2022 and 31 May 2023.

Issued: July 30, 2021
1. On 13 July 2021, the Commandant of the Marine Corps convened the FY22 Colonel Command Screening Board. The purpose of command screening is to ensure that Marines receive the best possible leadership and to provide all eligible officers with a fair and equitable opportunity to command. Nine general officers screened the records of 150 colonels and colonels (sel) for assignment to 54 operating/supporting establishment commands. Billets considered will normally become available during the period of 1 June 2022 to 31 May 2023.
2. The board selected 55 officers as primaries for command. To accommodate the assignment process and the availability of individual officers, 29 officers were selected as alternates and found eligible for command by the board. The alternate list provides an adequate number of officers to meet the command requirements should an officer decline command or otherwise be unable to take command.
3. The quality of the Marines considered reaffirms that the Corps continues to produce and promote leaders of the highest caliber. The relatively small number of command billets available and the large number of eligible officers combine to make command selection an exceptionally competitive process.
4. The Commandant of the Marine Corps has approved the following:
