This MARADMIN notifies Marine Corps Publications Distribution System (MCPDS) users of a potential service outage beginning 1 September 2018 due to the expiration of the system's Authority to Operate (ATO) on 31 August 2018. Issued: August 13, 2018
1. This is a MARCORSYSCOM and HQMC, ADC, IL (LP) coordinated message to notify Marine Corps Publication Distribution System (MCPDS) users of a potential gap in MCPDS service. 2. The current Authority to Operate (ATO) for MCPDS will expire on 31 August 2018. Efforts are currently underway to obtain a new ATO, however, in the event that the ATO is not approved, MCPDS will be taken off-line on 1 September 2018. 3. A gap in MCPDS service would impact the following common MCPDS capabilities: publication ordering, viewing order status, viewing and adjusting inventories, viewing and adjusting mailing and distribution lists, conducting publication inquiries, and distributing hard copy media governed by Ref (a) thru (c). 4. The Marine Corps publications electronic library, publication library management system, Marine Corps doctrine, and other technical publication services hosted on https:(SLASH)(SLASH)www.marines.mil, will continue to operate in the event of a MCPDS outage. The SL-1-2 publications index and Marine Corps publications SharePoint site will also continue to function. Should a MCPDS gap in service occur, the ability to perform updates to these systems will be limited and in some cases not feasible. 5. MCPDS users are advised to assess upcoming publication efforts and complete publication transactions prior to 1 September 2018, when feasible. If a temporary gap in MCPDS service is deemed imminent, a follow-on message will be released providing interim guidance and additional contingency guidance, to include the estimated duration of the gap in service. 6. Address any questions to the POCs listed above. 7. Release authorized by BGen David W. Maxwell, Assistant Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics (LP).
