Special Duty Assignments and Screenable Billets Incentives for Fiscal Year 2022

This MARADMIN announces monetary incentive options for Marines assigned to Special Duty Assignments (SDA) and Type-One screenable billets for Fiscal Year 2022, including Recruiters, Drill Instructors, Marine Security Guards, Combat Instructors, and Security Force Guards. Active Component Marines who volunteer or are involuntarily selected for these assignments and assigned to FY2022 classes are eligible for various incentive packages, with volunteers generally receiving larger incentives than non-volunteers, including options for monthly pay increases or lump sum payments.

1.  Purpose.  This MARADMIN announces monetary incentive options for special duty assignment (SDA) and type-one (T1) screenable billets for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022.
2.  Reference (a) announced the FY2022 Headquarters Marine Corps Special Duty Assignment Volunteer period.  Reference (b) implemented a classification system for screenable billets that includes SDA and other special programs.  Reference (c) authorizes updated monetary incentives for these assignments.
3.  Eligibility.  Active Component Marines who volunteer for, or are involuntarily selected to, SDA (i.e., Recruiters, Drill Instructors, and Marine Security Guard Detachment Commanders) or T1 screenable billets (i.e., Combat Instructors, Marine Security Guard Watch Standers, and Security Force Guards (PRP)) and assigned to a FY2022 class are eligible for incentives in the amounts described in paragraph 4.
4.  Monetary Incentives.  Marines who meet the eligibility criterion paragraph 3 above can choose between various incentive options, as described below.  Monetary incentive packages for volunteers are generally larger than those available to non-volunteers.
4a.  Recruiters (8411).
4.a.1.  Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  653 dollars per month; 375 dollars per month plus a 10,000 dollar lump sum; or 150 dollars per month plus a 17,000 dollar lump sum.
4.a.2.  Non-Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  375 dollars per month; or 150 dollars per month plus a 7,000 dollar lump sum.
4.b.  Drill Instructors (0911).
4.b.1.  Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  578 dollars per month; 300 dollars per month plus a 10,000 lump sum; or 150 dollars per month plus a 14,700 dollar lump sum.
4.b.2.  Non-Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  300 dollars per month; or 150 dollars per month plus a 4,700 dollar lump sum.
4.c.  Marine Embassy Security Guard Detachment Commander.
4.c.1.  Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  428 dollars per month; or 150 per month plus a 10,000 dollar lump sum.
4.c.2.  Non-Volunteers.  Marines will receive 150 dollars per month for the 36-month tour.
4.d.  Marine Combat Instructors (0913).  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 36-month tour:  150 per month; or a 4,700 dollar lump sum.
4.e.  Marine Embassy Security Guard Watch Standers (8156) and Marine Corps Security Forces Guards (8152/8154).  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for their 36-month tour:  75 dollars per month; or a 2,300 dollar lump sum.
4.f.  Second tour SDAs.  Marines volunteering for a second tour in a SDA may choose from the incentive options consistent with the associated tour length (generally 24 months).
4.f.1.  Recruiter (8411) Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 24-month tour:  653 dollars per month; 375 dollars per month plus a 6,700 dollar lump sum; or 150 dollars per month plus a 9,800 dollar lump sum.
4.f.2.  Recruiter (8411) Non-Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 24-month tour:  375 dollars per month; or 150 dollars per month plus a 3,100 dollar lump sum.
4.f.3.  Drill Instructors (0911) Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 24-month tour:  578 dollars per month; 300 dollars per month plus a 6,700 lump sum; or 150 dollars per month plus a 9,800 dollar lump sum.
4.f.4.  Drill Instructors (0911) Non-Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 24-month tour:  300 dollars per month; or 150 dollars per month plus a 3,100 dollar lump sum.
4.f.5.  Marine Embassy Security Guard Detachment Commander Volunteers.  Marines may choose between the following incentive options for the 24-month tour:  428 dollars per month; or 150 per month plus a 6,700 dollar lump sum.
4.f.6.  Marine Embassy Security Guard Detachment Commander Non-Volunteers.  Marines will receive 150 dollars per month for the 24-month tour.
5.  Marines meeting the eligibility criteria in paragraph 3 will begin to receive incentive pay, to include any lump sum payments, within 30 days of their SDA or T1 screenable billet join date, following course graduation and awarding of additional MOS.  Lump sum amounts listed in paragraph 4 are based upon standard 36 month tour lengths.  Variation in tour length will affect lump sum amounts.  Marines who receive a lump sum payment but fail to complete the associated tour length are subject to repayment of the unearned, prorated portion of the lump sum.
6.  The non-monetary incentives delineated in reference (c) for all Marines assigned to screenable billets designated in reference (b) remain in effect.
7.  Marines choosing a lump sum may want to use this opportunity contact an installation's Personal Financial Manager or the Command Financial Specialist to set up an individual session on (1) Introduction to Debt Management (2) Addressing Excessive Debt and (3) Establishing Savings.  These sessions are about 45 minutes in duration.
8.  This MARADMIN is applicable only to the active component.
