Results of the FY22 Active Reserve Special Duty Assignment (SDA) and Marine Combat Instructor (MCI) Screening
This MARADMIN announces the results of the FY22 Active Reserve Special Duty Assignment (SDA) and Marine Combat Instructor (MCI) screening process. The by-name list of approved assignments and qualified alternates has been released to major commands via the Total Force Retention System (TFRS), and unit career planners are responsible for notifying selected Marines. Commanders must re-certify selected Marines 60 days prior to class report dates to ensure continued qualification.

1. In accordance with references (a) and (b), Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC), Reserve Affairs (RA), has completed the screening of Marines for Special Duty Assignment (SDA) and Marine Combat Instructor (MCI) for FY22.<br> 2. The by-name list of approved assignments and qualified alternates is released to major commands via Total Force Retention System (TFRS). Unit Career Planners are responsible for the notification of assigned Marines. <br> 3. Commanders must conduct re-certification of selected Marines, in accordance with reference (e), 60 days prior to the SDA class report date to ensure that the Marine is still qualified for the assigned SDA. If a Marine is found unqualified during that time, Commanders must contact HQMC RA Reserve Affairs Management-2 (RAM-2) via TFRS NLT 45 calendar days prior to the class report date with the appropriate supporting documentation.<br> 4. Alternates identified during the selection process will normally be retained on station until all primaries have successfully graduated the corresponding SDA courses. Marines screened and found qualified for SDA who have not been identified on this MARADMIN may be utilized for future SDA assignments.<br> 5. Temporary Additional Duty and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders will be released via separate correspondence. Per reference (c), upon arrival at Basic Prior Service Recruiters School (BPSRC), Drill Instructor (DI) school, and MCI school, members must have in their possession: medical and dental records, command endorsed orders, and completed SDA screening checklist with recertification. Selected Marines who were screened by someone other than a Medical Officer (MO) during the initial screening must be screened by an MO prior to reporting to school.<br> 6. In accordance with the references, once the approved Reenlistment Extension Lateral Moves (RELM) with designated class assignment is returned to the unit, Marines selected to attend SDA schools will have no more than 15 days to accept the obligated service. Those Marines that decline to gain the obligated service necessary for their assignment to an SDA will have their expiration of active service (EAS) date adjusted to reflect the graduation date of the school they have refused to attend, be transferred to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) in order to complete the remaining reserve time on their contract, and issued an RE-3O reenlistment code. Official requests for cancellation or modification of SDA orders must be submitted via official message to the RAM-2 OMB at joinar@usmc.mil. Appropriate supporting documentation must be provided and approval from RA must be granted for SDA orders to be modified or cancelled.<br> 7.
