MCRC Company Grade Selection Board for Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21)
This MARADMIN announces the Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC) Company Grade Selection Board for Fiscal Year 2021, which will convene in September 2020 to select company grade officers for recruiting assignments across the nation as Recruiting Station Executive Officers, Operations Officers, and Officer Selection Officers. Eligible officers must submit their billet and district preferences by 6 September 2020, and assignments will be for a 36-month tour with the incentive of choosing either Resident Career Level School or geographic location upon successful completion.
Issued: August 6, 2020
1. Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC) requires high caliber company grade officers for assignment as Recruiting Station (RS) Executive Officers (XOs), Operations Officers (OpsOs), and Officer Selection Officers (OSOs) across the nation. A panel consisting of staff from Manpower Management Officer Assignments (MMOA) and MCRC will convene during September to identify and select officers for assignment during FY21.
2. Eligibility Criteria.
2.a. Time on Station (TOS). Officers who will complete their prescribed tour, on their current set of orders, NLT 30 September 2021 are eligible. If an officer does not meet this requirement, the officer must contact their Primary MOS (PMOS) monitor to discuss waiver submission requirements.
2.b. Grade. Only those officers who are in zone for promotion, selected for, or promoted to Captain are eligible for assignment. Officers who are forecasted to promote to the rank of Major during their MCRC assignment are ineligible for assignment as they will not have the career timing to support a full 36 month tour in MCRC as a Captain. Officers not yet selected for career designation will receive tentative assignments from the panel that are contingent on each officers selection by an Officer Retention Board (ORB) NLT April 2021.
2.c. Career timing that supports a full 36 month tour at MCRC.
2.d. Questions regarding eligibility should be directed to the appropriate PMOS monitor.
3. Process.
3.a. Eligible officers are directed to access the following link in order to submit their top billet and district preferences: https://surveys.max.gov/index.php/939325?lang=en
3.b. The deadline for preference submission is 6 September 2020.
3.c. Assignments made by this panel are for a tour control factor (TCF) of 36 months. Requests to resign or retire prior to the completion of the 36 month TCF will not receive favorable endorsement. Final authority for requests to resign or retire is CMC (Deputy Commandant Manpower and Reserve Affairs) IAW Ref (b).
4. Incentive. Per MarAdmin 371/03, officers who are assigned and successfully complete a tour as an RS XO, RS OpsO, or OSO will have the option of assignment to either Resident Career Level School (CLS) or geographic location.
