Financial Well-Being Assessment

1.  Purpose.  This MARADMIN announces the Financial Well-Being Assessment (FWBA) tool and provides Marines guidance on its use.<br>
2.  Background.  Per reference (a), the Secretary of Defense conveyed a concern for the economic security of all Service members.  This resulted in a collaboration between the Office of Financial Readiness and Personal Financial Management Program to develop and distribute the FWBA.<br>
3.  The FWBA guides Marines through a "checkup" of their financial health.  This easy-to-use self-assessment, consisting of 12 simple questions, provides a score, and suggests resources that enable Marines to evaluate and improve their financial well-being now and plan for their future.<br>
4.  Marines can access the assessment through their local installation Professional Financial Managers (PFM), their unit Command Financial Specialists (CFS) or at the FWBA website:  https:(slash)(slash)finred.usalearning.gov/FWBA/ DigitalTool.  Upon completion of the self-assessment, Marines can contact their PFM or CFS:  https:(slash)(slash)usmc-mccs.org/services/career/personal/financial/management to develop strategies to manage their financial matters.<br>
5.  Expected Use:  PFMs and CFSs may use the FWBA as part of their initial assessment of clients.  Marines and Family members may also use the FWBA to monitor their financial well-being.<br>
6.  This MARADMIN applies to the Active Duty, members of the Select Marine Corps Reserve, Marines on Active Duty Operational Support Orders, their Family members, and, when authorized by law, other populations such as civilian personnel.<br>
