1. Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is a category of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that creates new content – such as text, images, audio, or code – based on patterns learned from existing data. GenAI is advancing rapidly and has broad applicability to augment Marines across the spectrum of functional areas and activities. 1.A. The character of war is increasingly defined by the speed and accuracy of decision-making. As outlined in the references, the Marine Corps' ability to achieve cognitive overmatch – to out-think, out-decide, and out-pace our adversaries – is critical to the success of Force Design and our ability to prevail in strategic competition. 1.B. The USMC Service Data Officer (SDO) Will convene a GenAI Workshop to conduct hands-on, warfighter-focused evaluation of GenAI and Large Language Models (LLMs) against real-world Marine Corps challenges. 2.
