Call for Participation in the 2019 Women of Color STEM Conference
This MARADMIN announces the 2019 Women of Color STEM Conference taking place October 3-5, 2019, in Detroit, Michigan. HQMC M&RA will sponsor a limited number of conference registration fees and travel expenses for Marines, civilian Marines, and Sailors on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested personnel should contact the POCs to participate in this three-day multicultural event focused on women in science, technology, engineering, and math fields.

1. The 2019 Women of Color Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Conference will be held 3-5 October 2019 at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center, 400 Renaissance Drive West, Detroit, MI 48243. Subject to conference approval, HQMC M&RA Opportunity, Diversity, and Inclusion Branch (MPE) will sponsor a limited number of conference registration fees and all travel expenses.
2. The Women of Color STEM Conference is a three-day multicultural event for women in STEM fields. The conference encourages all women to improve their education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math fields. Participants learn from the top minds in the industry and collaborate with their peers. This conference creates an informal, trusted community that provides support specifically to women in STEM careers. The host of the event, Career Communications Group, is a non-federal entity wholly independent of the Marine Corps. 3. Commanders may authorize Temporary Additional Duty for Marines, civilian Marines, and Sailors who are attached to their unit. Local travel is authorized for members in the local area. All Marine Corps funded participation will be coordinated through the MPE Branch. Reservations will be given on a first-come first-served basis. Rental cars are not authorized. Commands are not authorized to use command funding for rental cars.
