Fiscal Year 2023 Headquarters Marine Corps Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Screening Team Schedule

This MARADMIN publishes the Fiscal Year 2023 schedule for Headquarters Marine Corps MARSOC Screening Team (HMST) visits to various Marine Corps installations. The screening teams will brief Marines on opportunities for Special Operations Officer (SOO), Critical Skills Operator (CSO), Special Operations Capabilities Specialist (SOCS), and Combat Service Support (CSS) billets, and conduct interviews with qualified volunteers for potential assignment to Assessment and Selection courses.

1.  This message is an update to Ref A and publishes new guidance regarding the screening and selection of enlisted Marines for MARSOC Critical Skills Operator (CSO) Primary Military Occupational Specialty (PMOS) 0372 billets.  Additionally, MARSOC screens Special Operations Capabilities Specialist (SOCS) and Combat Service Support (CSS) billets in support of U.S. Special Operations Command requirements.  Updates regarding the enlisted CSO Reserve opportunities screening and selection process will be issued via separate correspondence.  Officers interested in the Special Operations Officer (SOO) PMOS 0370 program may attend any of these visits.<br>
2.  Task.  To introduce and inform commanders of the planning, implementation and execution of the FY23 HQMC MARSOC Screening Team (HMST) visits.<br>
3.  Purpose.  Brief interested Marines on the opportunities and pathways for SOO, CSO, SOCS and CSS billets for possible future assignments.<br>
4.  Briefing team.<br>
4.a.  The team is comprised of representatives from HQMC, Manpower Management Enlisted Assignments (MMEA) and MARFORSOC.<br>
4.b.  Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: screening, population development, and commander interface.<br>
4.c.  MARFORSOC representatives conduct orientation briefs and interviews.  Those qualified volunteer CSO applicants will receive tentative assignment to an A&S course pending approval from HQMC.  The SOCS and CSS candidates will receive further assignment information.<br>
5.  Participants.<br>
5.a.  A list of Marines screened by HQMC, MARSOC, and who meet all pre-requisites will be published via SEPCOR to the Major Subordinate Commands (MSC) no later than 90 days before each quarterly HMST visit.<br>
5.b.  Marines interested in applying prior to a HMST brief  should contact a MARFORSOC recruiter and or their career planner and begin the Command Screening Checklist for the appropriate program.<br>
6.  Commanders.<br>
6.a.  Commanders are directed and required to ensure all Marines listed in the SEPCOR attend the MARSOC orientation briefs delineated in the below coordinating instructions.<br>
6.b.  Request Commanders afford the Marines not listed in the SEPCOR, but are interested in the MARFORSOC assignment, the opportunity to attend the orientation brief.<br>
7.  Coordinating Instructions.<br>
7.a.  MSC career planners at the Base/Station, Division, MLG, and Wing level will provide a consolidated roster of Marines who are physically unable to attend the HMST to the HMST Officer in Charge on the applicable briefing dates.  Non-availability for screening will not preclude assignment of volunteers to A&S.<br>
7.b.  MSC career planners are required to conduct daily reconciliation of Marines on the list with the HMST OIC.  Commanders and SgtsMaj should be briefed pre and post execution of the HMST regarding adequate attendance.<br>

7.d.  Detailed schedule and locations of brief/screenings will be sent via SEPCOR from the appropriate MEF career planner.  This SEPCOR will be published NLT than 30 days before each HMST.<br>
7.e.  The following is requested at the briefing locations:<br>
7.e.1.  Billeting information upon request.<br>
7.e.2.  Briefing sites made available to accommodate expected attendance.<br>
7.e.3.  Projector for PowerPoint and video presentations.<br>
7.e.4.  Public address (PA) system to address audio and video requirements.<br>
7.e.5.  Minimum three (3) tables for applicant screening.<br>
7.e.6.  At the Okinawa location request transportation with driver.<br>
