Solicitation of Prior MSG Detachment Commanders (8156) for Assignment as Marine Security Guard (MSG) Instructor/Advisor

This MARADMIN solicits former Marine Security Guard (MSG) Detachment Commanders (MOS 8156) to serve as Instructor/Advisors at MSG School in Quantico, Virginia. The assignment is a 36-month Special Duty Assignment with SDA pay, requiring prior successful completion of MSG Detachment Commander duties and meeting screening requirements outlined in the Special Duty Assignments Manual.

1.  Background:  The Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) School House is screening former MSG Detachment Commanders for assignment as an Instructor/Advisor for a tour of 36 months aboard MSG School, Quantico, Virginia.<br>
2.  Requirements:<br>
2.a.  Previous completion of MSG Detachment Commander Course (58L) and successful tour as an 8156 Detachment Commander.  Completion of the MSG Course (81H) will be considered if Marines completed a successful tour as an Assistant Detachment Commander.<br>
2.b.  Marines that were relieved for cause (RFC) or good of service (GOS) will not be considered for duty as an Instructor/Advisor.<br>
2.c.  Meet requirements per chapter 4 of the Special Duty Assignments Manual (SDAMAN) MCO P1326.6D as per reference (a).<br>
3.  Process:<br>
3.a.  Complete Phase 1 Command Screening Checklist and Financial Checklist contained in reference (a).  Career Planner comments for Renlistment Extension Lateral Move (RELM)/Special Duty Assignment (SDA) submission in Total Force System (TFRS) should contain the following verbiage:  "SDA submission is for duty as an Instructor/Advisor at Marine Security Guard School."<br>
3.b.  Complete Phase 2 Interview with MSG Recruiting, Advertising and Screening Team (RAST).<br>
3.c.  Upon completion of Phase 2 interview, the request will be screened by the MSG Officer in Charge and Chief Instructor, then a recommendation will be made to the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) Executive Director for approval or disapproval.<br>
4.  Additional Information:<br>
4.a.  Assignment as an Instructor/Advisor is considered a Special Duty Assignment.<br>
4.b.  Marines will receive SDA pay throughout their tour as an Instructor/Advisor for MSG School.<br>
4.c.  Once RELM/SDA is approved, PCS orders will be issued by the MSG Monitor.<br>
4.d.  The tour of duty as an Instructor/Advisor will be up to 36 months.<br>
4.e.  Marines assigned for duty as Instructor/Advisor will be PME complete prior to check in.<br>
4.f.  If assigned as an Instructor/Advisor, a Marine will not be required to complete MSG Detachment Commander Course a second time.  However, certain classes may be audited as a refresher only.  Formal instructor training will be provided once SNM arrives at MCESG.<br>
