IRS Tax Filing Software Transition USMC Income Tax Assistance Program
This MARADMIN announces a transition to new IRS-approved tax filing software for the Marine Corps Income Tax Assistance Program beginning in January 2017. Due to the software change, Tax Centers will be unable to electronically retrieve information from prior year returns, so military tax filers are encouraged to obtain IRS transcripts before visiting a Tax Center.

1. Reference (a) announced the annual Marine Corps Income Tax Assistance Program. Tax Centers will open in January 2017 to begin filing Tax Year 2016 returns. The Tax Centers are required to use new IRS-approved software this filing season and therefore will be unable to electronically retrieve information from prior year tax returns prepared at a Tax Center. Military tax filers who do not already have copies of their prior year tax returns are encouraged to obtain transcripts from the IRS before visiting a Tax Center.
