CY19 Outreach Special Observances
This MARADMIN announces the Calendar Year 2019 outreach special observances that the Marine Corps will recognize to increase awareness about the achievements and contributions of all Marines to American history and culture. It lists 11 federally supported observances including Martin Luther King Jr. Day, various heritage months, and awareness periods, encouraging commands to conduct appropriate recognition activities and ceremonies throughout the year.

1. Throughout the calendar year the Marine Corps encourages outreach observances to recognize and increase awareness about the achievements of all Marines to American history and culture. 2. For Command planning purposes listed are the outreach observances supported by law Congress or the President which HQMC (MPE) will publish MARADMINs during CY19. Commands are encouraged to conduct appropriate recognition activities and ceremonies for these observances. Commands may also make other observances of significant cultural relevance to their geographic locations and command history. a. Martin Luther King Jr. Day (21 January) b. African American History Month (1-28 February) c. Women's History Month (1-31 March) d. Holocaust Days of Remembrance (8-15 April) e. Jewish American Heritage Month (1-31 May) new f. Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (1-31 May) g. Caribbean American Heritage Month (1-30 June) h. LGBT Pride Month (1-30 June) i. Hispanic Heritage Month (15 Sep-15 October) j. Disability Employment Awareness Month (1-31 October) k. Native American Heritage Month (1-30 November) 3. During these observance periods Commanders are encouraged to recognize military and civilian personnel for their professional and civic contributions. Commanders are further encouraged to conduct programs and promote participation in observance events within their commands and local communities. 4.
