Announcement of the FY19 Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JCWS)

This MARADMIN announces the FY19 Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JCWS) course schedule at Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia. The ten-week resident curriculum is available to officers (O-4 to O-6) and senior enlisted Marines (E-7 to E-9) who meet specific prerequisites including security clearance, JPME I completion, and joint assignment status. Four courses will be conducted throughout FY19 with varying Marine Corps allocations per course.

1.  Situation. The Joint Forces Staff College conducts a Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JCWS) ten-week resident curriculum. The Marine Corps is required to designate as a Joint Qualified Officer a sufficient number of quality officers that must have completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME)  Phase II.<br>
2. Mission. The Joint Forces Staff College will conduct this course at Norfolk, Virginia.<br>
3. Execution<br>
3.a.  Dates for Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 courses are:<br>

3.b.  Marine Corps allocations for each course are as follows:<br>

3.c.  Major subordinate commands may nominate Marines in the grade of E-7/E-8/E-9/O-4/O-5/O-6 to attend the course in accordance with the above allocations.<br>
3.d.  Course prerequisites (Officer and Enlisted)<br>
3.d.1.  An active secret clearance, validated in the Joint Personnel Adjudication System is required. Marines who do not possess an active security clearance will not be accepted into the course due to classification of several classes.<br>
3.d.2.  Must be in compliance with height/weight/physical  fitness test/combat fitness test standards.<br>
3.d.3.  In the first year of (365 days), or en route to, a joint assignment or equivalent.<br>
3.e.  Officer nominees must have completed JPME I credit from an Intermediate Service School, either Resident or Non-Resident.<br>
3.f.  Senior enlisted prerequisites<br>
3.f.1  Senior enlisted nominees should be in the functional area consistent with joint planning groups (occupational specialties: operations, intelligence, communications, logistics).<br>
3.f.2.  Bachelors degree (accredited).<br>
3.f.3.  Service professional military education (PME) complete for pay grade.<br>
3.f.4.  JPME I credit from an Intermediate Service School (or attend Joint Transition Course one week prior to JCWS at JFSC in Norfolk, VA).<br>
3.f.5.  Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military education (SEJPME) Course (distance education course offered by JKO) completed.<br>
4.  Administration and Logistics<br>
4.a.  Senior enlisted personnel submit a nomination package that includes the following:<br>
4.a.1.  Nomination letter from the first Flag/General/SES officer in their chain-of-command.<br>
4.a.2.  A one-page student biography or resume to include education and career history. An undergraduate transcript and a copy of the SJPME course completion certificate or JPME I certificate from an Intermediate Service School. Nomination package must be submitted 90 days prior to class date to JFSC Dean Academic Affairs (DAA). Final admissions authority rests with the JFSC Commandant. 4.a.3.  Forward required nominee information, identified above, to the appropriate joint matters email account.<br>
4.b.  All officer applications must be submitted to the Joint Officer Matters Office, MMOA-3 no later than 60 days prior to the course convene date.<br>
4.c.  All senior enlisted nominations must be received by the Joint Officer Matters Office, MMOA-3 no later than 90 days prior to the course convene date and 120 days prior to the course convene date to the Deputy Director, Senior Enlisted Academy.<br>
4.d.  Students registered in MCTIMS who cannot attend a scheduled course must have their registration canceled within MCTIMS.<br>
4.e.  Appropriation Data. Funding will be provided by TECOM Worldwide Travel.<br>
4.f.  Prior to arriving, students must read and become familiar with all pre-requisites by JFSC.<br>

6.  This MARADMIN is not applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve.<br>
