Marines Directed to Complete Eligibility Screening for Marine Security Guard School

This MARADMIN directs commanding officers to ensure selected Marines complete eligibility screening for Marine Security Guard (MSG) School assignment to classes 4-17 and 5-17 in FY17. Marines identified by MMEA-25 must complete Phase 1 screening documentation by 20 January 2017 and Phase 2 telephonic interviews between 13 January and 15 March 2017.

1.  Background: Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) Recruiting, Advertising, and Screening Team (RAST) and Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Manpower Management Enlisted Assignments (MMEA-25) will be conducting directed screenings to identify highly qualified Marines to serve as Marine Security Guard (MSG) Watch-Standers for assignment to MSG classes 4-17 (21 May 2017 – 14 July 2017) and 5-17 (06 August – 29 September).
2.  MMEA-25, in coordination with the Primary Military Occupational Specialty (PMOS) monitors, has identified Marines for screening and potential assignment to MSG classes during FY17. The detailed list will be distributed via the Total Force Retention System (TFRS) and Automated Message Handling System (AMHS).
3.  Commanding Officers are directed to ensure that all Marines listed complete MSG Phase 1 screenings in accordance with reference (a).  All Phase 1 screenings will consist of the following: the Commanding Officers Screening/Interview Guide - MSG duty (reference (b)), Commanding Officers Financial Worksheet (reference (c)), security clearance letter, and tattoo screening form (if applicable). All documents will be submitted via a SDA-Only Reenlistment, Extension, Lateral-Move (RELM) request in TFRS no later than 20 January 2017.
4. Commanders are directed to ensure their Marines contact the MCESG RAST at 703-784-4861 or 703-432-2701, 0800-1700EST Monday-Friday, between 13 January 2017 and 15 March 2017, in order to complete their Phase 2 interview telephonically. Confirmed and reliable points of contact/phone numbers are required within the TFRS package.
5.  Commanding Officers are asked to state that all requirements needed for promotion of Marines applying for MSG duty have been met in accordance with reference (d), during the final phase of MSG Recertification Screening.
6.  After successfully completing the screening, Marines will be issued a class draw case code and issued permanent change of station orders to MSG school.  The list of assigned Marines will be published in March 2017.
7.  Command compliance will be assessed by the HQMC non-compliance board in accordance with reference (e).
