Change 1 Fiscal Year 2018 (FY18) Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR) Reserve Officer Retention Bonus (RORB) and Forward Air Controller (FAC)/Air Officer Retention Bonus

This MARADMIN announces changes to the FY18 Selected Marine Corps Reserve (SMCR) Reserve Officer Retention Bonus (RORB) and Forward Air Controller (FAC)/Air Officer Retention Bonus program. The changes expand eligibility to include chief warrant officers assigned to SMCR units, offering them a $20,000 RORB, and clarify eligibility criteria regarding promotion failures and prior service obligations.

1.  This MARADMIN announces the following changes to reference (a):
    a.  The following is added to paragraph 2:  c.  The FY18 20,000 dollar RORB is offered to chief warrant officers assigned to an SMCR unit.
    b.  The following is a change to paragraph 3a:  RORB:  Commissioned company grade officers and chief warrant officers, including those currently serving in an SMCR unit, who meet the requirements in paragraph 2.
    c.  The following is a change to paragraph 3a(11):  Lieutentants, captains, or chief warrant officers who have failed selection to the next higher grade while in the unrestricted Reserve competitive category are not eligible for this incentive.  Failures of selection to the next higher grade incurred while in the Active Component competitive category do not necessarily disqualify an otherwise eligible officer.
    d.  The following is added to paragraph 3a:  (13) Chief warrant officers who have completed any service obligation incurred from the Warrant Officer Accession Bonus, and have less than 16 years of satisfactory service, are eligible for the bonus.
