Clarifying Guidance to Reserve Component Personnel Seeking COVID-19 Related End of Active Service or Retirement Extensions
This MARADMIN clarifies that Reserve Component personnel will no longer be granted COVID-19 related extensions for End of Active Service (EAS) or retirement beyond December 31, 2020. It applies to Reserve Component Marines on Active Duty Operational Support (ADOS) orders exceeding 180 days and Active Reserve Marines pending EAS or retirement.

1. This Marine Administrative Message (MARADMIN) provides clarifying guidance to Reserve Component (RC) personnel seeking COVID-19 related End of Active Service (EAS) or retirement extensions. 2. Background. Per references (a) through (c), Reserve Affairs Division approves extension requests for all Active Duty Operational Support (ADOS), Active Component (AC) and Reserve Component (RC), orders in excess 180 days and all EAS and retirement extensions for Active Reserve (AR) Marines. Due to anticipated COVID-19 disruptions, Reserve Affairs promulgated guidance contained in reference (d) notifying all Reserve Component Marines to anticipate and plan for longer than normal timelines to complete the transition requirements specified in reference (e). 3. This MARADMIN provides notice to all RC Marines activated on ADOS AC/RC orders for more than 180 days and all AR Marines who are pending EAS or retirement that Reserve Affairs will no longer consider COVID-19 related extensions beyond December 31, 2020. 4. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Reserve Component. 5. Release authorized by Major General H. G. Pratt, Director, Reserve Affairs Division.
