Issued: December 19, 2024
1. Purpose. The Marine Corps is committed to
supporting the unity and well-being of dual military couples.
Nearly 9,000 Marines are currently married to other Marines and
about 2,000 are married to members of other Services. Per the
Commandant of the Marine Corps guidance, Manpower & Reserve Affairs
will continue to work toward ensuring co-location of dual military
couples, and to ensure any separation is reviewed by the Director,
Manpower Management as required. For all dual military assignments,
a Marine's Primary Military Occupational Specialty monitor remains
the principal point of contact for assignment considerations and
official requests.
2. The Dual Military Coordinator is dedicated to keeping families
together and minimizing separation. The Dual Military Coordinator's
purpose is to serve as a liaison between dual military couples,
monitors, and other Service assignment managers. The Dual Military
Coordinator is primarily engaged when a conflict exists in an intra/
inter-service dual military assignment. The Dual Military
Coordinator strives to improve all dual military-related procedures
within the Marine Corps. This includes serving as a dedicated
resource for dual military couples with guidance and support to help
navigate the unique challenges faced by dual military families.
3. This MARADMIN is applicable to the Active Component and Marines
in the Active Reserve.
4. Questions concerning the co-location process should be directed
to the Dual Military Coordinator. The MMEA directory can be found at
