Marine Corps Guidance for Special Leave Accrual Due to Impact of Recent Hurricanes

This MARADMIN authorizes Special Leave Accrual (SLA) for Marine Corps members who had leave cancelled between 24 August 2017 and 30 September 2017 due to duty in direct support of humanitarian and emergency assistance for Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Commanding Officers and Officers in Charge may approve up to 14 days of SLA, which will expire on 30 September 2018.

1.  Per references (a) and (b), duty in direct support of humanitarian and emergency assistance for hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria are designated as qualifying events for Special Leave Accrual (SLA).
2.  Commanding Officers (CO) and Officers in Charge (OIC) may approve SLA for Marine Corps members who had leave cancelled between 24 August 2017 and 30 September 2017 due to the hurricanes referenced in paragraph one.  SLA approval for this event is limited to the amount of leave that was canceled or disapproved, up to a maximum of 14 days.  SLA approved for this event will expire 30 September 2018.
3.  COs and OICs will utilize the verification and administrative procedures in reference (b).  Commands with questions regarding this guidance are encouraged to contact their local Installation Personnel Administration Center (IPAC).
