Update to MARADMIN 333-20 to Incorporate Change to Delegation of Waiver Approval Authority for Coronavirus Disease 2019 Personnel Movement and Travel Restrictions

This MARADMIN updates MARADMIN 333/20 to change the waiver approval authority for COVID-19 travel restrictions. The approval authority is now delegated to officers in the grade of O-6 or civilian equivalent (previously required first General Officer/SES in chain of command). This applies to all Total Force personnel.

Issued: October 22, 2020
1. Purpose. This MARADMIN updates approval authority for waivers to the travel restrictions imposed by ref (a).
2. Background. Ref (a) issued travel restriction guidance, and established approval authority for waivers to the established travel restrictions. Per paragraph 4.c. of ref (b), authority to grant waivers to travel restrictions, as set forth in ref (a), was granted to the first GO/SES in a traveler's chain of command. Ref (c) delegated approval authority for waivers, as set forth in ref (a), to the CMC; for personnel under his jurisdiction; these delegations remain in effect.
3. Update.
3.a. Per ref (d), approval authority for waivers to the travel restrictions imposed by ref (a), is delegated to a level no lower than an appropriate officer in the grade of O-6 or civilian equivalent.
3.b. Per ref (d), personnel traveling on government-funded travel authorizations will comply with applicable force health protection guidance.
4. This MARADMIN applies to the Total Force.
