FY25 Special Duty Assignment Roadshow
This MARADMIN announces the FY25 Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Roadshow, taking place from January 8-31, 2024, at various Marine Corps installations. The roadshow aims to encourage Marines to volunteer for special duty assignments (Recruiting Duty, Drill Instructor Duty, Marine Security Guard Detachment Commander Duty, and Combat Instructor Duty) before the HSST list is published on March 1, 2024, allowing volunteers to be screened on-site and maintain eligibility for volunteer incentives.

1. This MARADMIN announces the FY25 HQMC Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Roadshow from 08 January 2024 to 31 January 2024. The primary purpose of the SDA Roadshow is to encourage Marines to volunteer for an SDA prior to the publication of the Headquarters Marine Corps SDA Screening Team (HSST) list on 1 March 2024. The Roadshow will allow volunteers to be screened by the SDA monitors during their visit and discuss all options for SDA volunteers. The SDA Roadshow briefs are phase I of the 2024 Manpower Management Enlisted Assignments (MMEA) Roadshow. A follow on MARADMIN will announce Phase II of the MMEA Roadshow and the monitor visit schedule. 2. From 08 January 2024 to 31 January 2024, SDA Monitors will conduct two briefs per location to increase awareness and encourage Marines to volunteer for an special duty assignment of their choice. These assignments include Recruiting Duty, Drill Instructor Duty, and Marine Security Guard Detachment Commander Duty, and will also include discussions involving assignments to Combat Instructor Duty, which is a Type 1 screenable billet. Following the briefs, the monitors will screen packages for volunteers per reference (a). Marines interested in volunteering are encouraged to complete their volunteer packages prior to the brief for on the spot screening. Commands are encouraged to have their Marines' packages submitted in the Total Force Retention System (TFRS) via their unit Career Planner before their corresponding base/station's road show date. 3. All Marines in the rank of Corporal through Staff Sergeant shall be afforded the opportunity to attend the brief. Marines of any rank who are interested in an future SDA or screenable billet assignment are invited to attend the briefs. Command leadership, both officer and enlisted, are welcome to attend. 4.a. The FY25 volunteer period began on 1 July 2023 and is open through 30 June 2024. The HSST list will be published on 1 March 2024. Once a Marine is HSST'd, they are no longer eligible to volunteer for a SDA of their choice, unless they are not selected for HSST assignment to an SDA after submitting their HSST package. 4.b. All Marines in the rank of Corporal through Staff Sergeant who have been on station 6 months or more from the date that the HSST list is published are prime candidates to volunteer for a FY25 assignment. These Marines are HSST eligible, and face the likelihood of being screened by the FY25 HSST. If they are selected by the FY25 HSST, they are no longer eligible for volunteer incentives. These Marines are strongly encouraged to attend the briefs. 4.c. All Marines that are eligible to volunteer for an SDA and who desire to submit before the roadshow can email the respective SDA monitor listed below if they have any specific questions regarding that area of assignment. Marines are strongly encouraged to reach out to their unit Career Planner with any initial screening or retention based questions.
