Announcement of the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) Infrastructure Reset Strategy

The Commandant of the Marine Corps has approved an Infrastructure Reset Strategy to optimize Marine Corps facilities and installations. The strategy aims to right-size infrastructure, reduce excess capacity that diverts resources from higher priorities, and maximize installation capabilities within available resources to better support force readiness and combat power projection.

Issued: December 9, 2016
1. The CMC directed development of an Infrastructure Reset Strategy to sustain infrastructure and installations as capable, resilient, right-sized platforms to generate force readiness and project combat power across the range of military operations. Marine Corps infrastructure today exceeds mission requirements and diverts resources from higher priorities. The Infrastructure Reset Strategy optimizes facilities footprint and investment to balance the portfolio and maximize installation capabilities within available resources. Achieving the desired end state requires unified commitment and disciplined governance to stay the course with this strategy over the long-term.
2. CMC signed the Infrastructure Reset Strategy on 28 November 2016 and can be found at http:(slash)(slash)www.hqmc.marines.mil(slash)dmcs
3. Release authorized by James B. Laster, Lieutenant General, Director, Marine Corps Staff.
