Solicitation of Prior Marine Security Guard (MSG) Detachment Commanders (8156) for Assignment as MSG Instructor/Advisor Change 3
This MARADMIN solicits former Marine Security Guard (MSG) Detachment Commanders (MOS 8156) to serve as Instructor/Advisors at MSG School for 24-month tours. Applicants must have successfully completed the MSG Detachment Commander Course and tour, meet SCREENMAN requirements, and complete a multi-phase screening process including commanding officer interview and MSG RAST interview.

1. Background: Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) is screening former Marine Security Guard (MSG) Detachment Commanders for assignment as Instructor/Advisors for tours of 24 months to MSG School.<br> 2. Marines must meet the following criteria:<br> 2.a. Previous completion of MSG Detachment Commander Course (58L) and successful tour as 8156 Detachment Commander.<br> 2.b. Completion of both resident and non-resident Professional Military Education.<br> 2.c. Meet requirements per Chapter 4 of SCREENMAN per reference (a). Individual exceptions of reference (a) may be considered on a case by case basis.<br> 3. Marines applying must complete the following:<br> 3.a. Phase I - Commanding Officers Screening/Interview Guide and Financial Checklist contained in reference (a). Career Planner comments for RELM/SDA submission in TFRS should contain the following verbiage: "SDA submission is for duty as an Instructor/Advisor at Marine Security Guard School."<br> 3.b. Phase II - Interview with MSG Recruiting, Advertising and Screening Team (RAST).<br> 3.c. Upon completion of Phase II, the request will be screened by the Marine Security Guard (MSG) School Officer in Charge and Chief Instructor, and a recommendation will be made to the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) Executive Director for approval.<br> 4. Additional Information:<br> 4.a. Assignment as Instructor/Advisor is considered a Special Duty Assignment (SDA). Marines will receive SDA pay throughout their tour as an Instructor/Advisor for MSG School.<br> 4.b. Once RELM/SDA is approved, SNM will first receive TAD orders to MSG School in order to participate in the assessment and selection process. Upon selection, the individual will receive PCS orders from the MSG Monitor.<br> 4.c. Upon execution of PCS orders, SNM will receive formal instructor training.<br> 5.
