Supplemental Guidance for 2020-21 Influenza Vaccination of Active and Reserve Components
This MARADMIN provides supplemental guidance for the 2020-21 influenza vaccination program due to anticipated vaccine supply shortages at military Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs). All active and reserve Marines must receive the seasonal flu vaccine by 15 December 2020, and if MTF supply is insufficient, personnel should obtain vaccination from TRICARE network pharmacies or authorized providers and report it to their command within one business day.

1. Purpose. Provide supplemental guidance to Marine Corps active and reserve components in implementation of the 2020-2021 Northern and Southern Hemisphere Influenza Vaccination Program during vaccine supply shortages at military Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs). <br> 2. Background. The Defense Logistics Agency is anticipating a delay of 1.2 million doses of influenza vaccine. Military Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) may have insufficient supply to vaccinate 90 percent of the active duty component by the target date of 15 December 2020. <br> 3. Execution.<br> 3.a. Per reference (a), all Marine Corps active and reserve component personnel shall receive the 2020-2021 seasonal influenza vaccine(s), unless medically or administratively exempt. If the local MTF supply is insufficient, reference (b) advises to immediately seek the vaccine from a participating TRICARE network pharmacy or TRICARE-authorized provider.<br> 3.b. Per the references, personnel who receive influenza vaccination from non-military facilities (e.g., civilian pharmacies) shall provide verification and details to their command Medical Readiness Reporting System representative no later than close of business the next duty day.<br> 3.c.
