23rd Executive Safety Board Announcement

This MARADMIN announces the 23rd Executive Safety Board (ESB) meeting scheduled for 7 January 2021, which will review the new Marine Corps Safety Management System and associated initiatives. The board, chaired by the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, will address five key safety topics including the Safety Services Model, information management, hazard reporting tools, culture workshops, and vehicle safety training.

1.  The Executive Safety Board (ESB) will reconvene as a stand-alone board on 7 January 2021 from 1500-1700 (EST) to review the new Marine Corps Safety Management System (SMS) and associated initiatives.  The SMS refocuses safety on attaining operational excellence and managing risk.<br>
2.  CMC (SD) will provide SVTC access and coordinating instructions via separate correspondence.<br>
3.  The Marine Corps' senior safety officer, the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, will chair the session.  Director, CMC Safety Division will review the current mishap picture, and provide updates on recent high profile mishaps.  The ESB will consider, and potentially take decisions, on five topics:<br>
3.a.  The Marine Corps Safety Services Model, collateral duty safety billets, MCICOM safety billet staffing goal, Regt/Group safety  billets.<br>
3.b.  Information Management and Lessons Learned, including directed improvements in the Consolidated Disposition Authority report.<br>
3.c.  Hazard Reporting Tools for the FMF, modeled on commercial best practices.<br>
3.d.  Culture Workshop expansion and commander mentoring program options.<br>
3.e.  Tactical Vehicle and Off-Duty Traffic Safety, current and future safety training initiatives. <br>
