1. Reference (a) is hereby cancelled.
2. This MARADMIN announces the non-competitive Intended Military
Occupational Specialty (IMOS) promotion policy for active duty
promotion to sergeant. There are no non-competitive IMOS promotions
to corporal. Marines entering into a sergeant entry-level IMOS will
be considered for promotion non-competitively as follows.
2.a. Effective 1 October 2025, the following military occupational
specialties (MOSs) are designated as non-competitive entry-level
IMOSs for promotion to sergeant: 0211, 0372, 1751, 2336, 3044, 4133,
4821, and 5821.
2.b. Corporals who reenlist into a designated non-competitive IMOS,
who have not yet attained the prerequisite grade, may be promoted
non-competitively to that grade. Promotion in the IMOS is contingent
upon reenlistment, time-in-grade/time-in-service eligibility, and
the completion of Professional Military Education (PME).
2.c. To effect promotions for eligible Marines, commands must
submit a signed request letter to Manpower Management Performance
Branch, Enlisted Promotions (MMPB-11) at
smb_manpower_enlisted_promotions@usmc.mil. Prior to submission,
commands must ensure the Marine's reenlistment and IMOS are
reflected in the Marine Corps Total Force System (MCTFS) and that
the Marine is PME complete. Once approved, MMPB-11 will report the
promotion to sergeant. The date of rank and effective date will be
the first day of the month following the satisfaction of all
requirements.
2.d. Marines promoted under their IMOS who subsequently fail to
complete MOS qualification requirements will be administratively
reduced, effective the date the Marine is notified of program
disenrollment.
3. Prior to delivery of the promotion warrant, commanders must
ensure the Marine is prepared to assume the responsibilities and
perform the duties of the grade in a creditable and satisfactory
manner.
4. The above policy is not applicable to the Marine Corps Reserve.
5. Release authorized by BGen Fridrik Fridriksson, Director,
Manpower Management Division.
